Bounties at Noon
A downloadable game for Windows and Linux
Description
Duelling. A challenge of speed, dexterity, and willpower. Not for the faint of heart.
A colourful gang has been causing turmoil in a small western town. The local sheriff has issued bounties for prominent members, but nobody dares to confront the goons because of their famous gunslinging capabilities. Nobody, but you.
Take down Red Rose, Green Graham and the other bandits as you slay them in the one type of match that counts, and free the people from this plague.
The original version of this game was made for the Tri-Jam #125 and was made in approximately 3 hours (under 3:15 at least). The theme was "only one enemy", interpreted as fighting with one enemy. This version is still downloadable (as the jam version) but the newer, far more polished post-jam version has since been released.
Many thanks to Eeve Somepx for the font, Joel Steudler for the music and Sidearm Studios for the sound effects.
Gameplay
Use the mouse to focus on your opponent. Keep focussing for a burst of slow-motion when the guns are drawn and a better aim. Use WASD or the arrow keys to move your hand. Make sure your hand stays on your revolver to minimize the time it takes to draw it. Press LMB to draw your revolver, or fire it when it's drawn. Firing it rapidly will cause recoil, resulting in a less steady aim. Shots are fired at a point within the aiming reticle.
Problems & Feedback
Please leave any problems you encounter (or any different type of feedback) in the comments, that would be greatly appreciated. :)
I hope you have fun! And thank you for taking a look.

Version Selection
For the optimal experience, select the post-jam edition. If you're curious what I cooked up in 3 hours on a free weekend, select the jam edition.
Windows
Simply download and run the executable should work.
Linux
Downloading, extracting and running the contents of the zip file should work. NOTE: if at first the screen turns black when running, try to alt-tab out of it and then back into it. No idea why this happens but that workaround did it for me.

were is the post jam edition for linux?
That is a very good question! :s I know I did build and test it once, but I must have forgotten to upload it back then. I'll check in with some old backups I have sometime soon to see if I can still manage to find it. Nice to see people are still interested in this after such a long time :)
Update: I still had a backup somewhere of these files! The linux build is gone, but I'm gonna re-build it when I'm able to use GMS:1.4999 again and upload it right away!
Ok thanks I really think this game looks fun and will definitely download it once its out 😊 (edit: I just saw it was out lol I feel very dumb now 😅)
